Mysterious but charismatic front man Khaliq was born in the West Midlands. He remembers fondly the deep tenors of his fathers voice resonating songs of home around their terraced house.Bedroom walls breathing Zeppelin,Free,Stones and the Beatles.Khaliq attributes thier styles to the beginning of his very unique approach to musicmaking.
Influenced by many genres of music, Khaliq has an obvious long standing affair with the singer songwriter. Past unreleased but much acclaimed Asian Man album for Factory too records, saw him hailed as the new Bob Dylan. ?Meeting and becoming friends with the likes of Tony Wilson/Derek Ryder, Mani,Bobby Gillespie,Shaun & Paul Ryder, Bez ,Little Barrie has been inspirational to me?.
Khaliq himself has been likened to Paul Weller/Nick Drake a comparison that obviously delights and amazes him; they are after all, two of his heroes. When the band rock out ghosts of Hendrix/Pink Floyd can be heard, teen angst is now exchanged for thunderstorm, relentlessness and the unrivalled vulnerability only begot from stripping yourself naked. Khaliq?s music rattles with raw emotions.Songs about everyday life, money, hopes and dreams are pages torn from your diary.
Khaliq are a unique wave of sound, a U.K. Guitar based band with a difference. An uplifting sound, that floats on a magic carpet, they have the ability to take you on that never-ending journey, a new exciting U.K musical experience, or as we call it the Unique Khaliq experience.
Live shows are an unrivalled experience. Not since the days of the punk explosion has a stage performance energised its following with such magnificence, but the lasting memory is one of peace and love . Khaliq????????. he knows exactly wot you feel like.

?Direct from the bloodline of Cat Stevens, Ben Harper and Nusrat fateh Ali Khan springs the beautiful spiritual music of Khaliq. Every line and crease in his voice tells of hard lives lived and lessons learned. Astrally project into the concealed worlds within each of his songs? ? Gavin Monaghan (Robert Plant, The Twang, Elvis Costello, Paolo Nutini, OCS, ).

Single Review
Soulful hip-hop vocals with a socially authoritative rap interlude and spindling guitars merge to underline a class barrier breaking lyrical bite that draws attention to common traits, ?World Alone?. Singer, guitarist and urban poet, Khaliq puts in a sincere and sterling display at reaching out to highlight the problems of loneliness.
This wistful West Midland born wordsmith delivers his message and then allows a symphonic electro-indie backdrop, giving a gyration inducing edge to this touch of streetwise honesty. ?Camouflage?, sees Khaliq?s vocals taking on a grittier, rock skirting edge with the odd painstaking stammer thrown in, as this slower, more pleading number cries out for universal freedom. As debut singles go, this is promising and mysteriously intriguing. There?s certainly more to come.

Mike Davies @ Birmingham Live Review
His band name as well as his own, the West Mids singer-songwriter blends an Asian heritage with a childhood listening to the likes of Zeppelin, Free, the Stones and the Beatles. Formerly signed to the ill-fated Factory Too label for whom he recorded the unreleased Asian Man album, he?s been compared to Paul Weller and he?s backed by a tight band who have the muso chops without sounding self-indulgent.
The date coincides with the release of debut single World Alone (While My Sitar Gently Weeps) which marries social protest rap to, as you might gather, a hint of George Harrison. It?s an impressive number that paves the way for the forthcoming Astral Projections (Magic Carpet Records), an album that expertly fuses Eastern and Western musical colours, Camouflage sounding like Weller with tabla.
Packed with strong melodies and hooks, Be My Baby, Asian Man and the sitar driven England find him channelling Cat Stevens while the bass riding funky blues n soul of Everybody?s Talking and Wild West recall Ben Harper and Get Back suggests the folk blues of Gomez with added fuzz guitar solo. And, just to underline his Harrison affections, closing track Winter Rain borrows the chorus line from Here Comes The Sun, but changes the climatic conditions.
It may not be in tune with the current musical fashions, but it?s easily one of the year?s strongest debuts and if they can carve a live reputation around it too then there should be much to look forward to.
