bio:
The bittersweet journey of four individual musicians for eight years finally gave birth
to a musical ensemble christened STRANGERS. On the 8th April 2007, their members consisted of; Ican, Gugun, Lanlan, and Nayaka on the drums.
STRANGERS encompass the Britpop genre. Their musical concept, live, raw, simple, honest and powerful soul was born as a result of a combination of their loves of British bands, The Beatles, Radiohead, the Cure and Coldplay. The musical composition of STRANGERS is coloured with the influences of each band member?s individual idols Freddy Mercury, Eric Martin (Ican), Lee Ritenour, Nuno Bettencourt (Gugun), Colin Greenwood, Thomas GIGI (Lanlan), and Mike Portnoy, Wong Aksan (Nayaka).
The vision of STRANGERS is to branch out their music to every corner of the world, wherever that may be. As long as there are ears to listen, eyes to see and hearts that are ready to embrace sincerity.
To quote from the film Vanilla Sky ?...every passing minute is a chance to turn it all around...?. Their message is simply to ask you never to hesitate to fight for what you believe in when others stick to the norm.
One name that must be mentioned behind the scenes of this album is Pete Braven of Pheonix Radio Net. As you have all probably read about our story, we?ve never imagined having the courage to make an album by ourselves. We knew nothing.
In fact, we didn?t have enough confidence to appreciate our own music.
We met Pete Braven on MySpace. In February 2008, he asked us some the questions that we would never forget;
??do you have a CD?...?
??no? How about an EP?...?
??what?! What the hell are you waiting for??...?
These are the exact words we needed. A stranger put faith in us and encouraged us to step up to the next level.
We spent 7 shifts in a hired recording studio, we finished all the sources we needed. We were very passionate about live recording, and that?s what we did. To make it more exciting, we switched off all metronomes during each recording session.
Our mixing engineer fell ill not long after the recording. This became our first bout of trouble which put us a month behind schedule. The second problem came from the printing house. This one put us two months behind schedule.
We won?t keep any secrets. We took out a loan, quite a big one. But you know what? It was worth every penny.
