Serpentia: our aim is to make your ears feel like they are bleeding and to give every person in the gig hall a massive buzz. To produce a fantastic show for every viewer the whole band works insanley to put on a good show and to give a great performance on their instruments. Most bands have one front man and then the rest of the band. Not Serpentia. We have 4 fromt men all working together to give the best possible performance of this age every time.
Serpentia is based on the wirral and currently relys on public transport to haul their equipment across the warters into Liverpool. The effort has always been worth it!
We are an un-signed band looking to get our music heard in as many ways possible. Because the band is still in school we do not hav time for jobs to pay for recording sessions or high tech equipment so we do the next best thing! We record in the bedroom! All of the songs we have on our page (apart from War Machine) have been recorded one part at a time. We were limited to 8 tracks (using a free light version of recording software which came free with a the lead input) so we have been very sparing with the layers we used. Oh yeh... the drum tracks were recorded off an electronic drum kit with one crash put through old retro speakers into one bog standard microphone. (Thanx to our friend grezz for letting us borrow his kit!)
Serpentia also covers various songs by the likes of Metallica, Trivium and Blackstone Cherry taking some of their heavy songs and also covering some of the Rock Ballards
Obviously our influences come from the likes of Metallica, Trivium and Blackstone Cherry, also from Avenged Sevenfold, Iron Maiden and going back into History, Mozart, Hayden and the one who inspired the Requiem, Verdi.
Now for some back ground information about the band members.
Ollie is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist. Its is his bedroom where all of the recording takes place and has to wait for the oppurtunity of both his parents being out of the house to record vocal tracs! He has a long history of singing in a chapel choir which is errr slightly contreversial and every gig he has played in with his metal head on, his mother complains about him ruining his voice. But then who listenes to their mother at the age of 17?
Phil is the drummer for Serpentia. Ollie and Phil are the founders of the band and recorded their first song before Phil even owned his first drum kit! his tallent came from encouragement from his father who has played the drums for more than half his life and from sneaking a headphone on and taping away at the back of the physics class. The ball rely started moving when phil found a spare room at the top of his grandfathers newsagent shop as space to have band practices. So Ollie and Phil would practice up there all day during the summer months anoying all of the customers below them.
The next person to play with the band is Marco. He was asked to learn War Machine and make up 3 solos in order to record the following week, which he succeded in i am glad to say! but this was only to be temporary as he wanted to focus more on his school work than music at that time.
Several months after this recording Ollie and Phil asked a guy named Harry to try out for the band. Harry already knew most of the songs Ollie and Phil played and were impressed when he whiped off the Master of Puppets solo first time round. He has also made a great contribution to the music of the band writing the opening riffs of the Final Day.
Shortly after Serpentia recruiten Louis (Toffa) to play bass. the band went to Louis\' basement to see how well he played with the band and practice was going well until the wall, literaly, started leaking water so the amps were evacuated and that was the end of the practice. Louis is a fantastic musician and plays several other instrument and was a great asset into writing the music to songs.
Unfortunatley it turned out Harry was too much of a fag to play full time in a Metal band so left to play with his indie band, which needless to say has already split up (What a surprise!). Lous also left as he has had trials for the piano in the Liverpool Philharmonic orchestra so best of luck to him for that!
Now Marco has re-joined and getting back into the hard rockin style as we have also recruited Grezz! Megga tall, megga cool Bass guitar he owns! Not much else to say about him realy other than hes not exactly the type of guy you would expect to play in a Metal band!
The lyrics to the songs come largley from Ollie with some coming from Phil.
Music written by the whole band and produced and edited by Ollie (instead of revising for his A levels!)
With their quivver full of hard rockin songs, Serpentia is ready to take on what ever they get to!
BRING IT ON!
