I have recently moved to Vancouver from merry old England....
I have found a little open mic night at a local pub that I turn up to uninvited to most Sundays, Sometimes people even clap!
I am of humble means and record my stuff using my mac and Garage band, Which for me and what I do is perfect :) Im sure that some people will listen to my song (I'll record some more soon) and say it sounds tinny and the singing is flat, but my poor little mac doesn't like me belting out tunes so much.
All in all I have a very chilled out and relaxed view on life, buy my song writing is probably fuelled by my serpresed inner demons, I don't look into it to deeply as I find I write songs best on rainy days, And once a song is written any emotions pent up disappear and are then just distant memories that I visit every now and again.
I am really crap at picking songs up quickly ie: a new tune on the radio or tracks suggested through friends, So if you see me playing something that you have heard Believe me, I have probably pulled several teeth out to get it to the stage that I think its good enough to play in public.
At the same time, I find it very easy to put together riffs and lyrics of my own and produce a 99% finished piece very quickly and painlessly.....god knows how that works?
If anyone listens to my stuff (stuff? what a rrrrrubbish word) and likes it or has suggestions then please let me know! I am open to constructive positive criticism! eg: Thats pants! .....helps nobody :)
