Death and a Cure is a local Perth solo act that began in October 2008 with singer/ songwriter/ guitarist, Ben Blondel. The unofficial release of his debut self titled E.P began in late December 2008. Ben has been working on his craft for many years, most of which has been out of the public eye however in 2005, Ben recorded his first song and it received immediate attention from the wider music community, winning WAM song of the year in the upper-school aged category for his song 'The Best is Yet to Come'. In 2006 he was nominated twice in the Gospel category for his songs 'This Disease' and 'All of the Above'.
There is much to be said about the beautiful music produced by this solo act. Drawing on inspiration from artists such as Sufjan Stevens, Dallas Green, John Mayer and Damien Rice, Ben has an honest, calm and soothing approach to his unique style of music that avid music lovers all want to hear. Every song has meaning and depth far beyond its face value for Ben, with messages that confront often inconvenient yet unavoidable truths that derive from both introspective thought and contemplation upon universal social truths.
Ben has performed live in front of local audiences at various venues in Perth such as the Swan Lounge, Swan Basement, Mojos and the Indie Bar. As well as performing over seas in Malaysia and Indonesia.
