BBC PRESS RELEASE
They have been described on the BBC web site as 'having the song writing adventures of Rush and the panache of T.Rex'
All Schools Are Strange kick off another set of live dates commencing in 2010 in what promises to be a great tour of music and visuals.
Formed back in 1982 the band played their first gig on September 30th and consists of founder members Michael Torry on vocals & guitar and Gary Moore ( yes, it really is his name ) on lead guitar. Jonny Mannix on bass makes up the nucleus of the band having been with Michael and Gary since '96 and new members Miki Keys on keyboards, Nina Adams on backing vocals and the recently recruited Ed ?Sticks? van de Arvoid on drums completes the line up.
I asked Michael, why after all these years, are the band still going strong
' I believe it is down to the fact that Gary and I are so tuned into each other musically and having Jonny aboard for so long it is like a family. Now we have Miki, Nina and Ed with us, it is like a whole new band again and that's what makes it exciting and that's why we put these set of live dates together'
What makes this set of live dates different from the rest ?
'We are only playing places that we feel comfortable with. Long gone are the days of playing just for the sake of a gig. That is why we are having such a blast at the moment, because every venue we play, it is because we want to be there and the people that come along want us to be there too. Most of the venues we are playing on these set of dates we have never played before'
Having listened to their 3 track promo CD, it is clear that the song writing partnership of Michael and Gary like to explore different genres of musical styles.
All Schools Are Strange is taken from the bands' first album Beyond The Door and is a powerful reggae number with an instantly recognisable riff and a great chorus. Weird lyrics, though
Night Music was written in dedication of Marc Bolan and has such emotional lyrics. Especially the last verse which is truly touching. This is a live version of the song again taken from their first album.
Track 3 is the bands live version of the classic Bolan number, Children Of The Revolution. One cannot help but wonder if Bolan is listening, how proud he would be to hear such a great version of one of his songs. Possibly the best cover number you are likely to hear.
The band are also currently in talks to have one of their gigs beamed live over the internet. They are talking to a number of venues and will confirm when all the details have been finalised.
This is something we are very excited about as it enables us to reach so many people with our music. It will also give a chance to see the band perform live, those that have not been able to get to one of our gigs.

'These new venues we are playing have shown great support for us and we are really excited about playing there. It would be nice to have a few people turn up to show support for the venue in these difficult times. 2010 is going to be a positive year'
I for one can?t wait along with many others, I hope. Can't wait !!!!
